"The Reality of God's Wrath" - Traditional Worship

1. What is revealed from heaven against the unrighteousness of men?

2. Based on the sermon today...how do you feel about God’s wrath? Do you

have a better understanding of God’s wrath and its meaning?

3. What do you think the meaning of “suppress the truth” is? How does

suppressing the truth interfere with your relationship with God?

4. Can you think of situations recently where you have been tempted to actively

suppress the truth of God in order to justify doing something sinful? How

can you embrace God’s truth in those moments so that you are able to act

with righteousness?

5. What did man trade for images in the form of man, birds, animals or crawling

creatures?

6. What do the following questions reveal about what idols you tend to be

tempted by (from Tim Keller in Counterfeit Gods)?

a. What do you habitually think about?

b. How do you spend your money?

c. How do you respond to unanswered prayers and frustrated hopes?

d. What are your most uncontrollable emotions – fear, anger, despair?

e. Therefore, what do you think your idols are? What do you need to do

to repent of your idols so that you can fully worship God?

7. The Message translation for Romans 1:24 says: So, God said, in effect, “If

that’s what you want, that’s what you get.” How do you interpret what God

is saying? Do you feel like God has ever said that to you?

Prayer for the Week:

Lord, I need You. Please break the power of sin in my life. Give me strength,

courage and yes, victory as I turn toward You. Help me to despise sin the way

You do, remembering that You always love me. Lord, if You tell me something

isn’t good for me, give me wisdom to believe You and accept your way.
