"We're All In the Same Boat" - Traditional Worship
Read Romans 3: 9-20.
1. What does Paul mean when he says “all are under sin” in verse 9?
2. In this week’s video on Right Now Media, J.D. Greear says, “We aren’t
sinners because we sin; we sin because we’re sinners.” What does he
mean by that?
3. Why is it important to recognize the universality of sin? How might
this recognition affect the way we treat others?
4. What does it mean that “no one seeks God” (v.11)? How do we
reconcile that with people’s spiritual interests?
5. How does this passage help us understand the purpose of the Law?
6. How does the Law help us recognize our need for salvation?
7. What is the difference between knowing the Law and being justified
by it?
8. What are the dangers of trying to be justified by keeping the Law?
9. In what ways can this passage shape how we approach evangelism
and personal humility?
10. How does this passage prepare us for the hope offered in Romans 3:
21–28 (which we’ll cover next week)?
Prayer for the Week:
Gracious and holy God, we confess today that we are all guilty before You.
No one can claim righteousness apart from Your mercy. Your Word strips
away our self-justification and reminds us that we are in desperate need
of a Savior. Thank You for the Law that exposes our sin and for the cross
that removes our guilt. Lead us to rest not in our efforts, but in the
finished work of Jesus Christ. Create in us clean hearts and renew in us
steadfast spirits, that we may walk humbly in Your grace.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
