ADULT CHOIR DIRECTOR

Objective of the Position:

  • To lead and direct the Adult (Sanctus) Choir to serve as instruments and leaders of praise and worship to the glory of God.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and communicate with other music and worship staff
  • Coordinate with the Pastoral Staff the scheduling of all music presented by the choir as needed
  • Attend and participate in all General Staff meetings (as schedule permits)
  • Direct the adult choir at all worship services in which the choir ministers in music
  • Arrange for a substitute choir director when necessary
  • Select and procure all music presented by the adult choir and in alignment with the theme for that service or event
  • Conduct weekly rehearsals (and others as deemed necessary)
  • Recruiting, inviting, cultivating and encouraging participation from the congregation in the ministry of the choir
  • Coordinate with the Office Manager the scheduling of rehearsals, rooms, etc., as needed
  • Maintain adult choir music library
  • Maintain choir budget in accordance with relevant policies and procedures of GLUMC

Skills Needed and Required:

  • Clear understanding and theology of Christian worship and ability to demonstrate such in the practice of ministry
  • Strong leadership, organizational, relational, interpersonal, communication, and human-relations skills
  • Knowledge of and ability to work effectively with small and large groups
  • Teachable with Excellent team-based leadership & relational skills
  • Ability and willingness to continually gather information on current directions in Christian music for worship in the Church today and to implement such into the practice of ministry at GLUMC

The Choir Director will be hired and terminated by the Lead Pastor and the SPRC, amenable to the Staff Pastor Parish Relations Committee for evaluation, and supervised by the Lead Pastor.

Time Requirement:

This is a seasonal part-time salaried position that may require 5-10 hours per week.

Compensation:

Commensurate with experience.
